Indoor Capture is the newest Skydio 3D Scan mode that is specifically tailored for autonomously scanning large, complex, indoor environments. With Skydio drones, a single operator can now easily scan even the largest and most complex facilities that may have been too difficult to manage in the past. Capture indoor and outdoor facilities with a single tool, then use that data to create high-quality digital replicas. The main advantage of Indoor Capture is that it can capture hard-to-reach areas, particularly those that are high up.

The new Skydio X2 Color features a single sensor, color-only gimbal with a ~80° HFOV wide-angle lens. This camera is ideal for detailed up-close inspections and other mapping applications, and is capable of capturing down to 0.65 mm ground sample distance (GSD). To operate in tough conditions, X2 Color offers a ruggedized airframe that is both light and highly durable, thanks to cutting-edge build quality with hyper-strength composites. The X2 platform offers a 14° to 109° F temperature operating range. With up to 35 minute flight time on a single battery, longer station time allows the inspector to operate more efficiently, completing more jobs in less time.

Skydio X2 is based on the same groundbreaking autonomous flight technology that powers Skydio 2, but implements it on a ruggedized vehicle that is ready to withstand more challenging environments and longer missions with up to 35 minute flight time. X2 is available in two configurations depending on the type of user for the platform: Skydio X2D is designed for defense and other federal agencies to perform reconnaissance, incident response, and security patrol missions. The Enterprise Controller provides ground control compatibility with the Skydio Enterprise App, or Skydio QGroundControl app if required. In terms of radio, the system is available on the 5 GHz band with a wireless range of 6 km, or the reserved 1.8 GHz band with a 10 km range. For its high level performance and security, in February, the U.S. Army selected the Skydio X2D SRR system for final integration in their Short Range Reconnaissance (SRR) program. Skydio X2E is optimized for enterprises, first responders, and civilian agencies, is the ideal solution for situational awareness and inspection of infrastructure such as bridges, power plants, power stations and rail yards. X2E is controlled exclusively from the Skydio Enterprise App on the Enterprise Controller, and is available with a 5 GHz radio with 6 km wireless range.

The new 3D Tower Capture mode brings a series of optimizations designed to make scans of vertically shaped structures - even faster and more efficient. The original 3D Capture mode allows users to efficiently scan complex structures by setting a floor, a ceiling and at least three pillars to define a scan volume. While this is a foolproof way of capturing any structure, regardless of shape, towers have simpler symmetrical shapes around their vertical Z axis. This specific characteristic of a whole category of inspection assets, such as towers, means that we can redefine the way the scan volume is outlined. Instead of flying the drone to set multiple pillars, 3D Tower Capture allows you to define the scan volume as a cylinder through four simple parameters. This streamlined process saves battery life and makes the scan setup much simpler and faster.

We are excited to announce our newest software feature - Skydio Scout. Scout makes it easier to fly around and keep up with a tracked GPS position. Fly at a set distance and height from either the Skydio Enterprise Controller or the Skydio Beacon while on the move — all without having to manually operate the drone. Skydio’s unmatched obstacle avoidance makes for worry free flying while maintaining a set distance from the GPS location and camera direction, even without line of sight.
